Belgacom to adapt certain mobile rates on 1 May
The changes -far below the rate of inflation- have no impact on most of the rate plans
Belgacom and Proximus recently launched a number of interesting new rate plans for both the residential market (Happy Time One) and the business market (Bizz rate plans).
For the first time, as of 1 May, a number of old Proximus rates (post & prepaid) will be increased: + 3.95% for subscriptions and calls, and + 1 cent per SMS. This does not of course apply to free calls or SMSes, nor to the majority of the new rate plans. This is the first time that Proximus adapts rates, and the 3.95% increase remains far below the rate of inflation since the introduction of the old rate plans.
The rates for fixed telephony - with the exception of Belgacom TV, Belgacom Internet and the Belgacom packs - were already "indexed" in the past few years. Here, nothing will change, except the discontinuation of the €1 per month reduction for customers who opted to pay for their Internet subscription by direct debit.
For the old Proximus rate plans (post- & prepaid), the following changes will apply as of 1 May 2009:
· Subscriptions and calls: +3,95%
· National SMSes: +1 cent
An average customer will still pay much less than the inflation over the years since the launch of these rates.
(sorry, Nederlandstalige pressreleases krijg ik niet...)
